I had been diagnosed with chronic fatigue. I had a constant headache that just seemed to get worse through the day, no energy and a depressed mood. The help I had received from the NHS had taken me so far, they had guided me through throwing off a few weights in my life and helped my to learn how to rest, but I was not happy to settle for bed rest for the rest of my life, I was driven to find something that would help me get well, get back to living my life.
A friend had heard about MBR and encouraged me to check it out. I scheduled in the discovery session with Amy. After that session I felt this was what I had been looking for. Amy’s own experience of recovery was so encouraging to me and she was very kind and easy to talk to.
When I think back now to the baby steps Amy helped me take, she was so patient but also knowledgeable, always able to help me navigate each part of the journey. I had so fully suppressed my emotions to cope with all the anxieties in my life that it was a challenge at the start to know how I was feeling about anything, so I am sure that whatever starting point a person is coming from, Amy will be able to help you get to where you want to be.
I remember the first time I realised I had control over my symptoms rather than them having control over me and from that moment I knew it was all going to be okay!
Amy has helped me even more than I expected, not just freeing me from the ropes of chronic fatigue but I would say I am a better ‘me’ than I have ever been! I love being more in touch with who I am and what I need. I feel I have been given the tools to go through life and that this is knowledge and understanding that everyone should have.
My mindset has had an almost unrecognisable change. It used to be so frantic, fearful and negative, but is now much more positive, calm and strong.
Yes. I guess I went into MBR thinking it was going to ‘help me cope’, but I don’t feel like I am just coping with difficulties that come my way. It changes you from within in a way that means you can just live your life, find joy in things. It’s not just a coping mechanism. I’m not just managing my chronic fatigue. I’m recovering. Not just from an illness but from all the unhelpful habits I have learnt in life .
Start with the discovery session! I found it was so helpful to have this as a first step. Since then Amy has been wonderful to work with, she is so positive and caring, but also knows how to help you. I’m sure once you meet her and hear about MBR you will make the same decision I did which was to go for it!
